NARS Velvet Lip Glide Duos | Review & Swatches

The NARS Lip Glide in Bound was one of my favorite products of 2017, so it's no surprise that I am still in love with this formula. The only reason that I don't own more shades at the moment is because beside La Main Bleue (which I bought and gave one of my girls), there are no other shades that have captivated me enough to spend another $26, but I am always on the lookout. So - when I saw that Sephora had 2 NARS Velvet Lip Glide Duos for $16 a piece, in deluxe sizes, I was intrigued and ordered one of the two sets.

I started off with the set that has Californiacation and Staying Alive and after a few weeks of really enjoying the little duo, I went ahead and ordered the second. Now with both sets I feel like I have a nice variety of shades to pick from, and because these little sets are only $16 a piece, I didn't have to shell out the big bucks for full sizes.

The NARS Velvet Lip Glide Duos include 2 deluxe size minis that contain .12oz/3.4mL of product. A full-sized NARS Velvet Lip Glide has 0.2oz/5.9mL, so you are not getting a full size worth of product. But there is a $10 price difference, which means you can try the formula, and two different shades, for less.  As someone who owns so many lip products, I am actually really enjoying the mini sized lippies versus full sizes because I know there might actually be a chance that I can finish these.

I love that even though these are deluxe sizes, NARS packages them in the exact manner as they do the large Velvet Lip Glides. Some minis from other brands will have a cheaper design which can really cut into the overall luxe feeling of a product. I love the sleek look of these lip glides, and how portable they are. I already stick my full sized tube into my pants pocket but these mini sizes make it easier to take on-the-go.

Rapture and Night Together : brown nude/coral pink

As you can see these NARS Velvet Lip Glides impart quite a lot of pigmentation, but can also be worn a little more sheer. I layered these swatches twice in order to get this amount of color pay-off but overall the color saturation is really good. In fact, if you're looking for a very sheer wash of color, these might not work for you.  I personally love how saturated the color is, it's one of the reasons why I love this formula so much and think the $26 price tag is worth it.

If you've never tried a NARS Velvet Lip Glide then you're missing out on a really amazing formula. The formula is a hybrid of a saturated lip color, gloss and lip oil at once. Because it's made with an infusion of precious oils, your lips feel hydrated and velvety, with no stickiness. After a few hours the initial shine does tend to wear off but you will still have some color on your lips and your lips will still feel comfortable. I do find this formula to be longer staying than a regular gloss, which is impressive, but I actually really enjoy reapplying every 4 hours or so. Overall, I love NARS Velvet Lip Glides and can't wait to get more minis and full sizes!

Purchase the NARS Velvet Lip Glide Duos on Sephora.com, NARS.com or look for the full sizes here. These are LE shades only available in these sets but I highly recommend Bound in a full size.
