My 2016 Birthday Gifts | Sephora, Ulta, Urban Decay

As a member of both Sephora and Ulta beauty rewards we get a birthday gift each year and even though the items are usually just a little treat, it's still one that's super fun to get. Who doesn't love getting little gifts on their birthday? Last year from Sephora I got the Nars lip set which was really nice, even though I have yet to use one of the shades. At Ulta last year I got a deluxe sample size of an Urban Decay Perversion mascara, which also was neat because I happen to really like that mascara. This year the gifts were good at both stores but Ulta really stepped it up, check it out.

As usual Sephora gave us another high-end goodie box and the only thing I thought strange after is that there is usually a gift for all members and a special gift for Rouge's. But I think this year they are giving the same gift to everyone.

We got a Marc Jacobs lipstick and a Marc Jacobs Gel Liner, both which I passed one to my kid who loves this brand. I got a full-size Marc Jacobs palette from my birthday so I felt like I could give away my gift without missing out on anything. The lipstick is a super pretty shade but I have one from last year that I still haven't touched. I know, I am bad.

Now let's talk about how Ulta stepped it up this year, at least for those of us whose birthdays fall in between July and September. My birthday gift from Ulta was an Urban Decay full-sized eyeshadow AND a $10 off any purchase coupon as a bonus for being a platinum member! Talk about a nice gift!

This Urban Decay full-sized eyeshadow marks my very first UD single and it's in a shade I actually went in-store to look for a few months ago, Midnight Cowboy. Andrew, one of my favorite YouTubers (Andrew's Off Day) mentioned this shadow one day and how he would love to wear it all of his life and the very next day I popped by Ulta hoping to find this magical shadow, but it was out of stock. They didn't have a sample for me to look at. That's why I was super stoked when I found out I would be getting it for my birthday, for gratis!!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!

Midnight Cowboy is a pink champagne with silver glitter and is indeed magical. While it's not a shade I would wear all the time, it is a special shade that I can pull out when life calls for glitter or when I feel I need that extra touch.

So pretty, I love it!

From Urban Decay I got a full-sized eyeshadow in the shade Busted ($20 value). This is the first year signing up to the UrbanDecay.com rewards program so I don't know what their usual gift is, but I was very excited to get a free full-sized shadow. I did have to make a purchase in order to get the birthday freebie but I didn't have to spend a high amount. I actually ordered a lipstick that was on sale for under $10, which I'd wanted for a while, so it was a win-win for me.

Overall I think this was a pretty sweet little haul. I am especially excited about owning my first two Urban Decay single eyeshadows.

  1. I loved your review on the Ulta gift! A little bummed that you didnt review the gift from Sephora as well since im torn about which gift to pick. Nonetheless, very helpful. Thanks!

  2. Stoked to hear/know that I, too, will be receiving UD's Midnight Cowboy as my bday gift coming up next month- Nov 20th! They kept it on, instead of changing it! Way better than a deluxe Roller Lash, or mini hairspray (which I would never use). WTG, Ulta!
