My Weekly #MOTD Wrap-up

Ever since the beginning of 2016 I've been looking for ways to use my makeup more and it's already the middle of the year and I feel like I haven't gotten very far with my goal. This week I came up with an idea that I think is going to go a long way in helping me rotate my makeup a lot more and maybe get me to actually put makeup on more often. It's not that I'm too lazy to wear makeup or that I like going natural, it's simply that I get very busy starting when I first wake up in the morning and a lot of times I just don't have the time. Unfortunately the more that I get to know about makeup, the more steps that have been added to my routine and doing a full face of makeup can seriously take me about 45 minutes, and that's a really long time. There are days that I barely have time to brush my teeth and wash my face and there's definitely no extra 45 minutes for me to do my face.

With this new series that I'm adding to my blog I hope that I can wear make up at least 4-5 days per week and at the end of the week I'm going to come here and share with you my weekly wrap-up and give you some product standouts and maybe products that failed. I think it will be a neat way to not only rotate my makeup and wear it more often but to get mini reviews of products that stood out to me and others that failed. Let's get started because I have a full week to share with you and a lot of really awesome goodies.

Welcome to Week 1 My Weekly #MOTD Wrap-Up

Standouts: Everything in this picture is practically a standout, from the amazing L'Oreal Lumi foundation that gives such a beautiful glow to the limited-edition Milani lipstick (Enchanted Amethyst) that I haven't used it in months and is the most "enchanting" shade of lavender. The Kat Von D Quad in Plum is so incredibly pigmented and soft and just such a pleasure to use. A good makeup day indeed.

Fails: none

Standouts: this was the day that I pulled out my favorite perfume, the beautiful Lorac Pro Metal Palette that I have owed for almost a year and never worn, and my brand new Limited Edition Nars Orgasm blush. This was the first day that I put the NYX Pro Foundation Mixer to the test with my LancĂ´me Teint Miracle Foundation and ended up being really happy because it didn't change the formula of the foundation which is very luminous and glowy. Another amazing makeup day.

Fails: none

Standouts: I decided to pair the NYX Pro Foundation Mixer with another one of my favorite foundations, the Mac Studio Fix Fluid and again I found that while it did change the shade of the foundation, it didn't change the formula. On this day I pulled out my newer Tarte Blush Palette and totally packed that for the shade Dream on and absolutely loved it plus I decided it was time to try the Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eyeshadow Palette.

Fails: The Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eyeshadow Palette was a mixed bag from me. I couldn't get one of the shimmery shadows to stay on my eyelids and though I did find the matte shades to be OK though none of them are super pigmented. I think overall all of the eyeshadows in this palette are very soft so you will always get a very natural and soft look and if that's OK with you for $40 then you're good to go. I really don't think that the eyeshadow palette is bad but it's my first time trying Becca shadows and can't compare to her other palettes, which many others are saying are not of the same quality. For me I think it's more of a price issue where I can get palettes with a lot more product for just a few dollars more, especially since the shimmery shadows which are the ones that I was most excited for don't seem to work with my dry lids.

Standouts: The Revlon ColorStay Whipped Foundation never fails to impress me whenever I pull it out and on this day it worked very well with the NYX foundation mixer. This again is one of my favorite foundations and I love the high coverage finish it gives me while maintaining a very skin like look that looks healthy and natural. Another stand out was the Black Radiance Eyeshadow Palette in Deeper the Berry, I had swatched this last week but hadn't actually had a chance to wear it and I totally love the look that I got by using the first column. I also really enjoyed this new ColourPop Matte X lippy that I got in my most recent haul. I will be posting a #LipQuickie sharing lip and arm swatches tomorrow of this shade so you can see just how pretty it is.

Fails: none

Standout: Dior Nude Air is yet again another one of my favorite foundations and one that has such a beautiful finish. This is a pricier foundation but a little bit of product goes a long way and the finish is just perfection if you're looking for a healthy glow that last all day.

Fails: The Lorac Pro 3 and Becca and Jaclyn Hill Champagne Face Palette both left me feeling mixed. The Lorac Pro 3 gave me so much fallout that I had to spend extra time cleaning it up and I just seem to have a really hard time with this formula and my dry eyelids. Meanwhile I totally loved the blush that I used from the Becca and Jaclyn Hill Champagne Face Palette but I really disliked how the highlight looked on my skin. The two highlight pans in this palette are the larger pans so I'm not sure what to do. Do I keep the palette because it's limited edition, beautiful and just for the three blushes, or do I just return it? I never ordered Champagne Pop because I know that really gold highlights don't look good one me so I'm not sure what the sense is in my keeping a palette that has two of them and costs so much. As of right now I don't know where I stand with these two products and will need to use them more before I can decide whether to keep them or return them.

Overall I think I have some really awesome makeup days and I'm thankful to own so many great products. I think I did really well in wearing make up five out of seven days and I'm shooting for the same this coming week. And I hope that you have enjoyed this peek into my MOTD's and enjoyed the small reviews. See you in a week with a new wrap-up!
