Covergirl Katy Kat Matte Lipsticks in Kitty Purry and Catoure Tricot-Griffes Review & Swatches

Hello and happy Sunday! Today I have another lipstick review and swatch post that I think is fun though a little late. For some reason my area still hasn't gotten these lipsticks I actually had to go quite a bit out of my way in order to find them. Which is disappointing because everybody else got their hands on them about a month ago. But better late than never I always like to say, and I have been really curious about this line of matte lipsticks. I started by buying just two of them just so we could check out the formula and compare it to my favorite drugstore matte lippie of all time, the Maybelline mattes.

These are the Covergirl Katy Kat Matte lippies and I picked up the shades Kitty Purry and Catoure Tricot-Griffes.

I'm not the biggest fan of the packaging on these lipsticks, I don't like the white rubberized covers because I think they're going to get very dirty very fast. Plus the bold, black font is just very ugly if you ask me. After they released such a beautiful and cute presentation with the oh Sugar! line, these lipsticks are just straight out ugly with a capital U.

That's just my opinion of course, so don't take it personal if you happen to love this presentation.

As of a year ago the first color that I would pick up in any range had to be a a red but recently mauvey pinks and nude/browns have taken over the number one spot. There was a really intriguing purple in the collection but I decided to just pick up the shades that I would be able to wear on the daily.

Kitty Purry is a mauvey pink shade that is very pretty, and very wearable. Of these two shades this is the most fun and I can see this being a definite go-to.

The formula of the Covergirl Katy Kat Matte lipsticks is supposed to be a demi-matte and as you can see in the swatches they do have a sheen. I did compare the formula to the Maybelline Matte and those have no sheen and are still super comfy and creamy going on, just like these are. But those have a matte finish and these have a sheen. Overall that makes for a very comfortable formula to apply and to wear. I have been wearing one of the lippies now for over 4 hours and it feels soft on the lips, it's never dried down but is staying soft and feeling good. Because of the formula there is transfer and you will have to reapply sooner.

Catoure Tricot-Griffes is a terracotta brown that is so much prettier than I had imagined. This for sure is an everyday type of shade and I chose this one to wear all day for testing purposes. It's just a perfect nudey brown shade that can be worn with so many eye looks. I love this shade!

Overall I would say that these lipsticks are a nice addition to the Covergirl line, I say this as someone who owns no Covergirl lipsticks. Lol. But hey, it's about time that they launched a new lipstick isn't it? I've ever only seen those small blue tubes that they have at the drugstore and nothing about those is appealing in the least. So yay for Covergirl for launching something new for us lipstick lovers. They really are killing it as of late with the new shadow palettes, the oh Sugar!'s and their baked blushes, so I am excited to see what else they will come out with.

I found the Covergirl Katy Kat Matte lipsticks for $6.99 at Walmart and would definitely consider buying more with a coupon or if I got them on sale. Do I like them more than my beloved Maybelline Matte lippies. That's a big N.O., but they are good.
