June Beauty Favorites

After a long hiatus (life's just been super busy and trying) I think I'm finally ready to get back into the groove of posting regularly here on the blog, and what better way than to start with a good old monthly favorites. I've actually been having a pretty great time with makeup, especially because my low-buy is keeping me on track and very few new products are coming into my collection.

CHANEL VITALUMIERE AQUA: A rediscovered favorite, I used to love this foundation when I first discovered it, so much so that this is my second bottle. But I found myself struggling to love it last year and couldn't figure out what had changed, so I completely stopped reaching for it.

Fast-forward to this year and either my skin has changed or I was just using way too much product, but I'm back to being in love with this foundation.  I think the trick with this foundation is that, definitely, less is more.

I'm super close to finishing this bottle and I am pretty sure that I will be purchasing my third bottle of it. I just can't see myself living without it as part of my makeup stash.

The Pat McGrath Eyedol in Divine Mink (one of my two purchases from the Sephora VIB Sale) has quickly become an absolute favorite.

Divine Mink is a metallic cool gray taupe with a really wonderful formula that applies beautifully both with a brush and finger.  I actually really enjoy applying it with a fluffier brush to get a lighter wash of that shimmery metallic color all over my lids. It's a perfect one-and-done shadow or the perfect partner to a matte taupe on the crease for the easiest smoky eye ever.

I love this single shadow so much - it's truly become one of my favorite makeup pieces. There are two more shades that I plan on buying from this collection, both from the matte range, and can not wait. I do think $25 for a single eye shadow is pricey, but when you get as much use out of it as I have with Divine Mink, then I do think it's worth it.

Dior Diorshow Mascara:  This is a mascara that I have wanted to try for years and years so I was super stoked to receive this deluxe size of it in a purchase from Nordstrom. I was so sure that I would love it immediately but it actually ended up being a mascara that I had to learn to love.

With a very thick and dense brush, Diorshow takes at least three coats to do anything to my lashes, probably because they are so sparse that it takes all that time to actually coat them with the large brush. But once those 3 coats are on, I must say that I love that full, sexy and very fluttery lash effect.

I had this in my to-go back and the longer I used it the more I loved it, and was super sad the day that I realized it had reached its end. Diorshow is an expensive mascara so I am not sure I would ever buy the full-size, but if I ever found it on sale I would definitely reconsider.

Sinful Colors Nail Polishes have never been my favorite at the drugstore, I'm just not a fan of their component and mostly bright polish shades. But on a trip to Walmart we bumped into a matte black called Blacklist that immediately tickled my fancy. I really dig matte finish polishes, and it's not something you see everyday. In fact, this took me back to a Wet n Wild collection they did in matte a few years ago, how I loved those precious bottles.

Also part of the collection is a matte topper which is pretty darn cool. So I guess I am now a converted Sinful Colors polish lover, even if I don't exactly love the packaging.
