Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint Review & Swatches

Here I am again with another new product from the drugstore. This week I have purchased two sets of new lipsticks from Maybelline. A traditional lipstick formula (the Maybelline Loaded Bolds) and then this more laquer type lippie. I decided to start with this review because I only have two shades in this one and it was faster to prep for you.

These are two of the new Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paints and I found them for $7.79 at my local Walmart. Yes, I was absolutely shocked that my Walmart has actually stopped all of the brand-new Maybelline stuff.  At $7.79 a pop, I actually find these to be on the pricey side. Especially when you consider that the other new Maybelline lipsticks are only $5.50.

Why so much more for these Maybelline?

And then the question that has been on everyone's mind: are these new lippies dupes for the Too Faced Melted Longwear lipsticks? I have seen quite a few people on Instagram say that these are dupes because the Too Faced because some shades are similar, but I knew that the formula with not going to be the same. Just because a shade a similar doesn't make it a dupe in my mind, it all depends on the formula. I personally thought these would be more like the LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints and since those are way too shiny for my taste, hoped it would not be the case.

But since the Too Faced Melted lipsticks are my favorite lipstick of all, I was really excited to see if what everybody was saying was true. The Too Faced Melted Longwear lipsticks are $21 so if these happen to be at dupe, it would be pretty amazing right? I got excited when I opened them to find a very similar angled sponge tip applicator to the Too Faced applicator.

The shades I got are:

the swatches

As you can see by the swatches, the Maybelline Color Jolt Lips Paints are not dupes of the Too Faced Melted Long Wearing Lipsticks, they apply with a shine and that's how they stay. The Too Faced Melted Long Wearing Lipsticks apply exactly the same but set to a really comfortable matte finish after about an hour and have very little transfer after that. These are super transfearrable and actually felt a little bit thicker, like a paint, as the name states. The shades themselves are beautiful though, I definitely really enjoyed the nude one and the red is about as perfect a red as can be. The collection also includes some pinks, there was a really gorgeous looking purple and a beautiful berry shade.

As long as you're not looking for a dupe of another product, I think you might actually like these: the shades are pretty, they're super vivid and the pigmentation is definitely there. I also found that they apply really even and smooth, they're comfortable if a little thick, and just a nice product. I do think they are overpriced at almost 8 dollars and would suggest picking them up with a coupon or on sale. And like I said, the shades are gorgeous!

Have you spotted the Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in your area and if so are you going to be picking some up?
