L'Oreal La Vie En Rose Lipsticks Review & Swatches

It's been a pretty dull few weeks at the drugstore so I was super excited when I walked into Walgreens yesterday to find some new L'Oreal lippies. These lipsticks are from the L'Oreal La Vie En Rose Collection which is like last year's Pure Red's collection. I own three of those lippies, which are really, really nice, so I was excited to see this new collection.

Just a little info on this collection: The price at Walgreens is $10.99 for these lipsticks and I think there were seven shades in the display even though on the L'Oreal site it says there are five. Three of the shades were really cool and terrifying pinks but there was a gorgeous bright coral and the two shades below which I fell in love with immediately. The Walgreens display had a $2 off coupon attached and the L'Oreal was BOGO 50% off, so I ended up paying $13.89 for both.

I picked up Eva's Pink and Jennifer's Pink from the collection, which were the most wearable for someone with my skintone and deeper. The lipsticks themselves are stunning, let's take a look shall we?

What I didn't realize though is that the L'Oreal La Vie En Rose Collection is a Sheer Velvet Matte collection, so when I went to swatch them for the first time I was disappointed at the sheerer finish. I personally love fully pigmented lipsticks and will very rarely enjoy anything sheer, unless the color is amazing or something, so at first I was disappointed and thought I might return them.

But today I woke up, put on my makeup and decided to give them a real try before taking them back to Walgreens, and I am glad I did. Even though both of these shades swatch so sheer on the arm, I was happy to find that both could really build up a lot more on the lips. What a relief, because I really do think both of these shades are lovely and it would have been such a shame to return them.

Jennifer's Pink is gorgeous isn't it? I had so many comments about this color on Instagram when I shared my swatches, this was definitely the favorite of the two. I love this shade, it's so easy to wear and I think it really livens up my face. This is def my type of color and I can see how this will be a great everyday to pull out for the rest of Spring and upcoming Summer.

Eva's Pink is a medium dark pink that reminds me of Lust For Blush from the Maybelline Mattes line. I think Lust For Blush might even be a little bit cooler which is why I don't reach for it more than I do. That's why I really like this shade, I think it's a really wearable shade for those of us with medium to darker skintones.

Overall I am happy with these two lippies. I would have of course loved if they had been a regular matte lippie and not a sheer, but as I told my IG followers, these can work well for those looking for a sheerer wash of color on some days and more pigment on others. The good thing is that they CAN be built up.

The formula itself is very creamy and soft, which brings me to a small issue I have with the tubes. Because the formula is so soft and creamy both of my tubes have indentation marks from the tube that happen when I apply them. That's not something I like, especially since my tubes are basically new. Hopefully they don't get worse than they are now. If you buy these lipsticks, I suggest being very gentle with them and making sure to roll a very small amount up when applying.

I hope my review and thoughts of these L'Oreal La Vie En Rose Lippies have helped you decide if you will be grabbing a few. If you do like them I suggest visiting a Walgreens before the week is over and make sure to ask the beauty consultant for the $2 off coupon, and yes you can use a coupon for each tube. I will see you soon with another beauty review!
